Our Fantastic Planet by Dick Smith, 1st Ed, Large HC DJ, Twin Otter Aircraft
This is Dick Smith's personal account of his 85,000 km flight in a Twin Otter around the globe via the South and North Poles. His journey took him from the coldest, driest and loneliest lands to the warmest, wettest and most heavily populated - over the icebergs and glaciers, deserts and rainforests, great cities and remote settlements, steppes and coral islands of this fantastic planet. Dick Smith's round-the-world adventure through 16 countries is stunningly illustrated by 360 rare photographs. A special feature is the breathtaking and spectacular shots taken during his five weeks in Antarctica, when he flew over 41,0000 km and covered more of Australian Antarctica by air than anyone has done before. Splendidly informative maps accompany Dick's sparkling and perceptive narrative on the places he visited and the dangers he encountered, and further enhance this exceptional, superbly produced book.
